It Makes Sense

Updated: Apr 30, 2020

The time will soon be here when my grandchild will long for the cry of the loon. the flash of the salmon, whisper of spruce needles, or the screech of the eagle.

But he will not make friends with any of these creatures and when his heart aches with longing, he will curse me.

Have I done all to keep the air fresh, have I cared enough about the water? Have I left the eagle to soar in freedom? Have I done everything to earn my grandchild’s fondness?

Chief Dan George (1899-1981), chief of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation

We feel our heartbeats in our fingertips. We hear the sound of a bird wings across the ocean, our ancestors whisper in our ears. That is common sense, for some people on this planet.

Those were some of the teachings we experimented with Cindy Charleyboy.

Cindy is Tsilhqot’in , Secwepemc and Norwegian artist, dreamer and healer living in the Coast Salish.

Cindy Charleyboy took us on an inter-dimensional travel through our senses.

What are our other kind of senses?

Awareness

Intuition

For the Egyptians there were 360 senses

Dreaming

Energetic senses, perceptual skills

Connecting in more ways that we realize, with our whole body, with the memories that live in our bodies

Our body will remember when our mind can’t

Vibrational

Body language

A reminder to pay attention

Every sense has an inward focus and an outward focus

How can you sharp your senses?

Feeling, try to imagine anger, fear and joy are senses

Drumming and singing,

singing could heal yourself and others

drumming opens all brain pathways at the same time.

Connect deeply with our senses and ancestors

Using our senses as an antenna

Visualizing

Observing, taking everything at once

Appreciation

Transforming everyday objects into art

Becoming a deer, move like a deer, feel like a deer

spending time in the forest,

walking in nature with intention,

noticing who else is there.
